Frequently asked questions

Where do I start if I am new to DevOps?

Start with Linux. Every server, container and cluster you will work on runs it, and the core Linux labs are free with a free account.

In what order should I learn DevOps tools?

Linux, then networking, then Git, then Docker, then CI/CD, then Kubernetes and OpenShift, and after that cloud, Terraform and monitoring. Each stage builds on the one before it.

Which stages can I practise right now?

Linux, Git, Docker, Kubernetes and OpenShift have hands-on labs on real environments in your browser. The other stages are being built and are marked "Coming soon".

Do I have to finish one stage before starting the next?

No, no stage is locked behind another. Each one does assume the stages before it, so following the order saves you time.

Is the DevOps roadmap free?

The roadmap itself is open to everyone. The core Linux, Git, Docker and Kubernetes tracks are free with a free account; the OpenShift and advanced Linux tracks are paid.
