Kubernetes playground
A multi-node Kubernetes cluster with two worker nodes.
- Start again any time
- Wiped when you finish
What you get
- A control plane and worker nodes, each its own machine
- kubectl in the terminal
- A kubeadm cluster, like the ones you meet at work
- Included in Academy Pro
Things to try
kubectl get nodes -o wideSee the control plane and the workers
kubectl create deployment web --image=nginx --replicas=6Watch how the pods spread
kubectl get pods -o wideWhich node each pod landed on
kubectl drain <node> --ignore-daemonsetsEmpty a node and watch the pods move
kubectl taint nodes <node> dedicated=web:NoScheduleKeep new pods off a node
kubectl uncordon <node>Put the node back to work
About this playground
The Kubernetes playground gives you a real cluster built with kubeadm, with a control plane and worker nodes, each its own machine. Try what a single node cannot show: how pods spread across nodes, drain and cordon, taints and tolerations, node affinity. This environment is included in Academy Pro.
Frequently asked questions
What does this have that K3s does not?
More than one node. With a control plane and worker nodes you can try drain, taints, affinity and pod placement, which a single-node cluster cannot show.
Is this environment free?
No, the multi-node cluster is part of Academy Pro. For free Kubernetes, open the K3s playground.
Is the cluster real?
Yes. It is built with kubeadm and every node is its own machine, not containers pretending to be nodes.
Is the cluster kept after the session?
No. Every machine is deleted when the session ends. Keep your manifests in Git to come back to them.
