About this playground
The AlmaLinux playground gives you a Red Hat family machine with a root terminal in your browser. AlmaLinux is a 1:1 rebuild of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, so what you do here is what you do on RHEL servers at work: dnf for packages, SELinux enforcing from the first boot, NetworkManager for networking and systemd for services. A good place to practise for the RHCSA.
Frequently asked questions
Can I practise Red Hat Linux online for free?
Yes. The AlmaLinux playground opens a terminal on a real machine that is a 1:1 rebuild of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, with a free account and 60-minute sessions.
How is it different from the Linux (Ubuntu) playground?
Ubuntu is in the Debian family and uses apt. AlmaLinux is in the Red Hat family, uses dnf and runs SELinux. Pick the one you use at work.
Is it good for RHCSA practice?
Yes, as free practice: users and permissions, SELinux, systemd, NetworkManager and dnf. For set tasks with checks, try the Linux labs.
Is my work saved?
No. The machine is deleted when the session ends, and the next session starts on a clean one.
