About this playground
The PostgreSQL playground gives you a machine with a PostgreSQL 16 server running, and VS Code in your browser with a database workbench. Create tables, write joins, add indexes and see the difference with EXPLAIN, from psql or the workbench. You have root access, and the machine is deleted when the session ends.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free online PostgreSQL playground?
Yes. With a free account you open a real PostgreSQL 16 server in your browser, for 60-minute sessions. When one ends you can start another straight away.
Is it a real server or an SQL simulator?
A real server on a machine of your own, with root access. You can change its settings and create users and databases as you like.
Do I have to do everything in psql?
No. There is a database workbench in VS Code in your browser for writing queries and browsing tables.
Is my data saved?
No. The machine is deleted when the session ends. Keep your SQL scripts in Git to run them again.
