About this playground
The Python playground gives you a Linux machine with Python 3, pip, venv, uv, pipx and build tools, and VS Code open in your browser. Create a virtual environment, install libraries, and write and run a script from the terminal. You have root access, and the machine is deleted when the session ends.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a free online Python environment?
Yes. With a free account you open a machine with Python 3 and VS Code in your browser, for 60-minute sessions. When one ends you can start another straight away.
Can I install libraries with pip?
Yes. pip, venv, uv and pipx are all there, and you have root access on the machine.
Do I need Python on my computer?
No. Python and VS Code run on the machine you open; all you need is a browser.
Is my code saved?
No. The machine is deleted when the session ends. Push your work to a Git repository before the time runs out.
